Science communication with impact in turbulent times. A comparison: Germany, Austria and Switzerland
- Podium (Ω)
Wissenschaftsverbund Vierländerregion Bodensee
In a time of growing disinformation, political polarization and authoritarian tendencies, science communication is facing new challenges. It should not only inform a few, but also create trust, provide orientation and strengthen democracy.
Its impact can be individual (e.g. changed behaviour), organizational (e.g. new business models based on research) or systemic (e.g. science-based policy-making). How can research results be communicated in an understandable way and at the same time have a social impact? Which strategies are particularly successful in Germany, Austria and Switzerland? Where are there differences in funding, target group approach or political embedding? And how can science communication strengthen trust?
The panel will bring together experts from the three countries to discuss success models, challenges, synergies, country- and region-specific differences as well as specific current issues.
Julia Wandt (managing director of jwd), Bettina Steindl (managing director of CampusVäre – Creative Institute Vorarlberg) and Philipp Burkard (managing director of the Foundation Science et Cité) will participate in the panel. The panel will be moderated by Markus Rhomberg, Managing Director of Wissenschaftsverbund Vierländerregion Bodensee (W4).
