General Terms and Conditions for Participation in ScienceComm'24
Scope: The following General Terms and Conditions govern the contractual relationship between the participants of ScienceComm and the Science et Cité́ Foundation (SeC). Deviating general terms and conditions of the participant are not valid.
Registration/confirmation of registration: Registration is done online via Converia - the conference management software. The confirmation of registration as well as the invoice (external service provider) will be generated automatically and sent by e-mail immediately after registration. The confirmation is legally binding.
Service: The participation fee is per person and event day. The fee includes admission, congress documents, refreshments during breaks, lunch and aperitif. No refunds will be made for services not used.
SeC reserves the right to replace announced speakers with others if necessary and to make necessary changes to the event programme. If the event cannot be held due to force majeure (e.g. pandemic) or for important reasons (e.g. illness of many speakers or insufficient number of participants), the participants will be informed immediately. In this case, the participation fee will be refunded. A claim for reimbursement of travel and accommodation costs cannot be asserted unless it has been expressly guaranteed in advance. Compensation for the costs of lost work is generally excluded.
Methods of payment, due date and default: Payment shall be made by major credit cards (3-D Secure), twint and is due in advance. Payment by sending cash or cheques is not possible; SeC accepts no liability in the event of loss. In the event of additional administrative work (subsequent registration, payment or invoicing), SeC will charge a processing fee of CHF 50.
Cancellation and transfer: Cancellation of registration is possible until 18 August 2024. Cancellations can be made by email to info(at)sciencecomm.ch. Participants will be charged 10% of the ticket price in case of cancellation. From 19 August 2024, only cancellations for medical reasons will be accepted and refunded upon receipt of a medical certificate, less 10% of the ticket price. Tickets are transferable to other persons, unless they are reduced-price tickets.
Data protection SeC: Personal data will be protected. SeC will treat the data provided by participants confidentially and will only use it in accordance with data protection regulations. The following personal data will be stored and used by SeC: First name, last name, institution, address, e-mail address, telephone number. On the list of participants, which is available to all participants, the surname, first name, institution and, with consent, their e-mail address. The personal data of the participants will not be passed on to third parties.
The Congress website uses Google Analytics. Cookies are also used to track the number and location of visitors to the website. These analyses provide insights into possible improvements to functionality and the user experience.
SeC is not responsible for the terms and conditions of external service providers (Converia, Wordline).
Photography/Recording: Participants, exhibitors, contributors and other companies are permitted to photograph and record the activities and participants of the Congress. By attending the Congress, you give permission for your papers, speeches and presentations to be recorded and photographed. You hereby waive any right to object and expressly authorise the organisers to record the Congress activities and make them available on the internet or at their discretion.
Applicable law, place of jurisdiction and place of performance: Swiss law applies, place of jurisdiction is Bern.
