Apéro with MT180: Ma thèse en 180 secondes

  • Plenum (Ω)

The «Ma thèse en 180 secondes» (MT180) competition challenges PhD students to present their research topic in just three minutes, in a clear, accessible and engaging way to a non-specialist audience. Inspired by the international ‘Three Minute Thesis’ concept, it promotes scientific communication, public speaking skills and the ability to make complex research understandable to everyone. Co-ordinated in Switzerland by CUSO (Conférence des Universités de Suisse occidentale), the competition brings together the best candidates from universities in French-speaking Switzerland and Zurich each year for a national final. MT180 is a unique opportunity to bridge the gap between science and society whilst showcasing the next generation of scientists.

Three MT180 finalists are presenting their projects:

Saeed Mhanna, University of Neuchâtel: «L’eau comme victime de la guerre : preuves par télédétection et apprentissage automatique des transformations hydrologiques» (First prize in the national final MT180 2026)

Lauriane Cailleux, University of Lausanne: «Politiques foncières : une étude comparative des stratégies d’influence des organisations environnementales» (2nd prize in the national final MT180 2026)

Solenne Blanc, University of Lausanne: «La prise de décision en fin de vie : comprendre les motivations et significations de l’engagement des patient.e.s dans une démarche de suicide assisté » (Swiss finalist MT180 2026)
